How does playtime inspire creativity and innovation? These past three days, Cindy and I attended CUE Rockstar Admin Camp at SOKA University. This model of professional development incorporates time for play in almost every session. Not surprisingly, I had some of my best ideas this year that I am excited to incorporate into my life as an educator. But, the overarching theme for me is to make time for PLAY in my everyday life!

At the conclusion of our three days together, Cindy and I had to make a presentation about what we learned to the other administrators in our cohort. Click here for a link to our slides. Here's a quick summary of our learning: use coding and robots to reinforce learning in the content areas, make that MakerSpace in the library, strengthen Writing Workshop with engaging grammar lessons in context and blogging, design better professional development through Google Presentation, broaden our social media presence with Instagram and If This Then That, and use music and movement to set a tone for the school at recess, nutrition, and lunch. Thank you to all the CUE Rockstar coaches! Many of them I had been following on Twitter and actually got to meet in person for the first time!

Check out my new rolling disco ball speaker! Time to play!
